Directorate "Forest and Silvicultural Activities Directorate":

    Forestry Directorate

    • controls and reports activities related to the creation, renewal and management of forests, as well as the land belonging to the forestry fund;
    • organises, controls and reports activities related to hunting management, forestry management, stock-taking and assessment of the forestry fund, as well as any changes in it;
    • organises and controls the introduction of science achievements in the field of forestry;
    • take part in the work of joint committees for scientific and technical cooperation;
    • develops and recommends environmentally friendly facilities, systems and technologies for reproduction and use of forests and their introduction into forestry;
    • organises and manages the preparation, maintenance, storage and use of specialised land and forest maps and registers within the forestry fund, as well as the regions of origin of forestry reproductive material;
    • organises measures against erosion and landslide in the forestry fund by means of forestry methods;
    • controls the forest variety selection, the introduction of tree species, production and trade in forest reproductive material and the storage of forest genetic resources;
    • takes part in the development of training programmes, the preparation, qualification and re-qualification of staff in the forestry industry;
    • sets up and maintains a system for forecasting and alert for disease and pests in forests;
    • controls the implementation of projects, plans and programmes related to the regeneration, management, use and protection of forests, and carries out investor supervision;
    • controls and reports activities related the protection of forests and land from the forestry fund;
    • proposes the categorisation and re-categorisation of forests and land from the forestry fund;
    • develops programmes to promote the participation of physical and legal entities who are forests owners in all stages of the reproduction, management and protection of forests;
    • consults physical and legal entities who are owners of forests on issues related to the reproduction, handling and management of forests and land from the forestry fund;
    • coordinates and organises the information and training of physical and legal entities who are owners of forests on the sustainable management of their forests;
    • participates in the development of mechanisms for the sustainable, environmentally friendly and economically efficient management of forests and land from the forestry fund;
    • participates in the development, implementation and control of national and international programmes and projects in the forestry field;
    • organises and controls activities related to the certification of state forests;
    • organises the preparation and controls the implementation of projects for assessment, prevention and minimization of the effects of unfavourable climatic changes and natural disasters on forests and land from the forestry fund;
    • coordinates projects for the recultivation of damaged terrain within forestry fund, controls and participates in recultivation acceptance committees;
    • prepares analyses and assists the Agency Chairperson in establishing the national priorities in the field of forestry in compliance with the national interest and EU membership criteria;
    • participates in the preparation of strategies, programmes and plans to develop forests and forestry;
    • organises and reports work with non-governmental organisations in the field of environmental protection and biodiversity;
    • controls, coordinates and reports activities related to the management of protected territories - natural landmarks and protected areas within the forestry fund, as well as in natural parks;
    • organises the assignment, development and implementation of plans, projects and programmes for protected territories and special protection areas within the forestry fund, which are not exclusive government property, and for the protection of forest eco-systems and biodiversity in forests and lands within the forestry fund;
    • organises a management and control system for protected areas and the maintenance of a favourable conservation status of individual types of habitats and species habitats within the national environmental network "Natura 2000" in forests;
    • controls and reports on the various types of use of forests and land within the forestry fund;
    • coordinates, controls and reports on activities related to the provision of use in forests and delegation of forestation activities;
    • participates in the adoption of financial plans and preparation of contracts for delegation of activities by the Agency to state forestry enterprises and state hunting enterprises;
    • analyzes statistical information on forests and land within the forestry fund;
    • organises and manages the provision of information about specialised maps and registers of the forests and land within the forestry fund to reflect such information into the digital models in the Restored Property Map (RPM), in cadastral maps and registers and in the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS);
    • keeps and stores the following registers:    a) national database of forests and land within the forestry fund;    b) a "genetic bank" list of coniferous and broad-leaved seeds;    c) a register forests and land within the forestry fund;    d) a public register of persons exercising private forestry practices;    e) a public register of merchants entitled to engage in activities in the forestry fund;    f) a public list of approved base sources of forestry reproductive material;    g) a public register of suppliers of forestry reproductive material;    h) a list of operators of negative reputation who engaged in activities related to the reproduction of forests in the state forestry fund;
    • controls the keeping and storage of the following registers:    a) register of forestry seed-producing base;    b) register of river catchments with flush activity.
