On 10 June, a working meeting took place at the Executive Agency for Forests with the participation of representatives of the National Association of the Owners of Private Forests, the Executive Agency for Forests and members of the working group responsible for the draft Forestry Act. The participants in the meeting included Anelia Pochekanska, Dipl. Eng., chair of the Association, Nevena Agovska, Dipl, Eng., Stephan Yankov, Dipl. Eng. and Peter Velkov – members of the Managing Board of the National Association, Pencho Dermendjiev, Dipl, Eng. and chair of the working group responsible for the draft of the Forests Act, Tony Krastev, coordinator of the working group and Director of Directorate Forestation Policy and Economic Activities of the Executive Agency for Forests. According to the written opinion of the National Association of Private Forest Owners and the outcome of the working meeting the organisation supports the new draft of the Forests Act, which will introduce new, modern principles for sustainable, environmentally compliant and multifunctional management of forests. The written proposals of the Association were discussed during the meeting and will be taken into account for the purpose of improving specific provisions set out in the draft law.
